VEGETAURUS
Dining Out
  • Pizza? Specify you’re a vegetarian. Ask for clean ingredients and a clean pizza cutter to be used on your food when you place your order. They’ll most likely write the instructions on your receipt or box. Pizza toppings get tossed into bins with other toppings, and cutters are used repeatedly on each pie that comes out of the oven for hours at a time.
  • Ordering a meatless sandwich/burger? Check it before you leave the drive-thru or restaurant. And if you’re dining in, make sure to check your food before your server leaves the table. Be firm but polite when ordering, even if you’re met with rudeness or inappropriate questioning. Ask for extra cheese or toppings - sometimes they’ll replace the meat for free, but be prepared to pay full price - or even extra. :(
  • Burger King, Chili’s and several other restaurants have veggie patty alternatives for their burgers.
  • Ask about the ingredients in broccoli cheese soups, or simply ask if the soup is vegetarian-friendly. Most likely, the restaurant uses chicken broth/stock.
  • If you want hot food, don’t settle for a damned salad! Menu items can be changed to be vegetarian-friendly - including most pasta dishes.
  • P.F. Chang’s has a lovely vegetarian section on their menu (Ma Po Tofu and Tofu Lettuce Wraps are > me).
  • Panera Bread has a handful of tasty vegetarian options (including soups!)
  • My favorite sandwich from McDonald’s is the Big Mac. Try it meatless and with swiss cheese instead of American. It’s life changing. Ignore confused stares and puzzled inquiries.

Have advice? Ask! I’ll credit you for your submission. :D
